See & Do

There is a lot to see and do in Ouddorp. You can discover everything on this page.

A stone's throw away from the family beach in Ouddorp

The North Sea shore near the Lighthouse vacation home is designated as a family beach. Water sports are not allowed at this beach area. Dogs are only allowed after 7pm and during the winter months and must be kept on a lead at all times. If you’re into surfing or kiting, Brouwersdam is the place to be and it’s a 5 minutes’ drive to get there. Due to its isolated location, the Lighthouse beach strip never gets crowded. The Lighthouse beach offers a toilet, but there are no beach bars, so you should bring your own food and drinks. Ouddorp beach is pretty place to hang out in all four seasons. On a windy day, you can find shelter in one of the numerous deserted dune slacks on your way from the holiday home to the beach.

Must see: take the scenic walk across the dunes

The vacation home has a private walking trail that takes you to the wide sandy beach of Ouddorp. A scenic walk through a nature reserve gets you to the North Sea in 7 minutes. This nature trail is a must-see during your stay, as it crosses the highest dune of the peninsula Goeree Overflakkee offering spectacular views. During your walk to the beach, you can look all the way to Rotterdam in the North and the Zeeland Islands in the South. Watch kite surfers at Brouwersdam performing some jumps. If you’re lucky, you also encounter herds of cows and occasionally you can spot some roe deer. If you use a wheelchair, a handcart or a baby stroller, the regular paved beach access is your best option. The paved path from the Lighthouse to the beach offers pretty sights as well and this it’s a 10 minutes’ walk to get there.

Kids entertainment at The Lighthouse

It goes without saying that the nearby sandy beach is the biggest attraction, but the large private garden is a nice place to stay as well. Both kids and adults can jump or work-out on the large trampoline. Play a game of garden soccer with mini goals or discover the ‘tree house’. This tree platform, accessible through a rope ladder, is a nice place to hangout for kids and teens. The Lighthouse is also equipped with a garden hose with a spray nozzle to rinse surf or diving equipment and hooks to dry your wetsuit. Inside the holiday home, there is a cabinet with plenty of games and toys, so kids won’t be bored. On a rainy day, you can watch digital television with Dutch, British and international channels. Free Netflix access is included. A selection of magazines is available as well. Surf the internet with free high-speed Wi-Fi. Or enjoy the Harman Kardon Bluetooth sound system and listen to your favourite music on vacation.

Restaurants in Ouddorp

Don’t feel like cooking today? The nearest beachfront bars are beach club ‘t Gorsje’ and ‘Bula’. For a more extensive menu you can visit the popular beach club ‘Paal 10’. In Ouddorp city centre there are plenty of restaurants to have lunch or dinner. Our pick: restaurant Akershoek. At Grevelingen waterfront restaurant ‘Twins’, they serve a great burger. Our tip for fresh seafood: restaurant ‘Poisson et Cuisine’ with a terrace at the port of Stellendam, also for take-away.
